Folding coffee table with black lacquered metal base, designed by Bernard Hesling circa 1970.
The rectangular enamelled metal top features a whimsical, stylized depiction of the city of Sydney, characteristic of the artist's playful and narrative visual language. The X-shaped base folds easily making the table easy to store.
Signed within the enamel design.
Bernard Hesling, a British-born Australian painter, became known from the 1950s for his colourful narrative panels and enamelled furniture pieces.
