- Léopold Gest
Large wrought iron lamp dating from the 1970s. A French ironworker and sculptor active in the postwar period, Léopold Gest developed an organic and expressive visual language combining traditional craftsmanship, medieval influences and modernist abstraction.
The sculptural wrought iron base features an elongated form reminiscent of a spear or totem, standing on a circular black lacquered metal base. The hammered and perforated ironwork highlights the handcrafted dimension of the piece, while the hand-stitched parchment shade adds a warm and natural contrast.
The piece perfectly reflects French decorative ironwork from the 1970s, balancing functional sculpture and modernist furniture.
