One-of-a-kind dining table from the "Carrara Quarry Table" series, designed by James Wines for Castigliani in 1989.

Composed of four Arabescato marble elements assembled into two supports, the table evokes a marble quarry in the midst of extraction. Fragments of stone deliberately placed at the base reinforce the illusion of erosion, while a thick transparent glass top rests above the sculptural composition.

Founder of SITE, the environmental art and design practice established in New York in 1970, James Wines developed a body of work that merges art, architecture, landscape and design. This table perfectly illustrates his approach, transforming a functional object into a sculptural statement.
