Ceramicist
Rare coffee table created in the 1960s by French ceramic artists Jean and Robert Cloutier in collaboration with the Parisian company RCF (Rotin Contemporain Français).
Rectangular in shape, it combines a rattan and bamboo frame with a top composed of slender rattan rods and enamelled ceramic tiles. The tiles, characteristic of the Cloutier brothers' expressive hand, feature deep turquoise, cobalt and aqua glazes with irregular reliefs and textured graphic motifs. The interplay between the organic warmth of the rattan and the shimmering, colorful surface of the ceramics results in a striking balance between natural materiality and artistic refinement. A rare and decorative piece symbolizing the union of French craftsmanship and ceramic art.
